16.11.2006      Swiss artist-duo Peter Fischli and David Weiss to receive Europe’s most valuable art prize, awarded by the Roswitha Haftmann-Stiftung.    The Board of the Roswitha Haftman-Stiftung will present the Roswitha Haftmann Prize – worth CHF 120,000 – to the Swiss artists Peter Fischli and David Weiss. Having worked together on video installations, photographic works and sculptures since 1979, Fischli/Weiss have carved out a place for themselves amongst the most important contemporary artists on the international stage. 10.11.2006      Kunsthaus Zürich announces its first showing of Albrecht Dürer’s master engravings.    From 3 November 2006 until 21 January 2007 Kunsthaus Zürich will host its first showing since 1946 of master engravings by the Renaissance artist Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528), including ‘The Knight’, ‘Melencolia I’ and ‘Saint Jerome in His Study’. Kunsthaus Zürich acquired the 55 perfectly preserved prints in 2000 when it received the collection of Landammann Dietrich Schindler (1795-1882). Zurich thus joins Vienna and Nuremberg as a site for the study of Dürer’s art in the original. In addition to providing detailed notes on the master engravings, the exhibition also pays special attention to Dürer’s modern way with nudes. Continue ...

31.10.2006      Zürcher Hochschule der Künste: Leiter für zukünftiges Departement Kulturwissenschaft und ästhetische Vermittlung gewählt    Auf Antrag der Hochschulleitung hat der Schulrat der Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst Zürich Christoph Weckerle zum Leiter des zukünftigen Departementes Kulturwissenschaft und ästhetische Vermittlung und damit zum Mitglied der designierten Schulleitung der geplanten Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (ZHdK) ernannt. Der Fachhochschulrat hat diese Ernennung an seiner Sitzung vom 26. September 2006 bestätigt. Continue ...
