«The greater part of my life is made of images, words the contain other lies. My characters are not a part of myths or classes. They are part of the mass, the people who make up that great name, those who permit the arrogance of society without knowing it, those that look on dreams as hypotheses. l feel like the messenger who is reproached by both sides for exaggerating reality. Crucified between one or another, between wisdom and ignorance, between yes and no, between the unknown and the forbidden. My primitive pride protects me and exposes me at the same time. It is always difficult for me to go down the path of painting, but it attracts me like metal to a magnet. It gives me a bitter sweet pleasure, which is closer to my doubts. l could never understand the arrogance of those who have never suffered hardships or ardent passions. Juan Martinez ist in Navas de San Juan (Provinz Jaen/Spanien) 1942 geboren. Er absolvierte die Ecole Supérieure d'Architecture in Barcelona und die Ecole Cantonale des Beaux-Arts in Lausanne. Heute lebt und arbeitet er in Senarclens (VD) und Barcelona.
